Saturday Night’s Main Event Report Card (May 24, 2025): Grading Every Match And Moment, Including Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul

WWE is back with another installment of Saturday Night’s Main Event! Live from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, FL, the show delivered the goods with the majority of the matches managing to fulfill the promise of what looked to be a great card on paper. Keep reading below for results and grades on a great night of action on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker vs. Sami Zayn & CM Punk

No wasted energy from the start as all four competitors went right at each other. It also didn’t take long for Breakker to grab the spotlight with a flying clothesline on Zayn from the apron to the announcer’s desk. Rollins and Brakker maintained control of Zayn for a bit before the hot tag was made to Punk. We then got a flying elbow by Punk ala Randy Savage. Gotta love that on a Saturday Night’s Main Event. Punk and Rollins traded plenty of blows, as there is plenty of gas left in that feud.

Eventually, Punk and Rollins fought to the outside where Punk was blindsided by a returning Bronson Reed! Reed drove Punk through the barricade which caught Zayn’s attention just long enough for Breakker to hit a massive spear and score the pin. After the bout, Reed made it clear he had aligned himself with Rollins’ crew and hit a Tsunami on Punk for good measure. I LOVE ‘Big Bronson’ as an addition to Rollins’ crew. He can pick up right where he left off before his injury last year and will add plenty of plunder to this group.

Result: Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker def. Sami Zayn & CM Punk via pinfall

Grade: A

Women’s United States Championship Match: Chelsea Green vs. Zelina Vega

This match may have been a late addition to the card, but Chelsea Green is always a welcome sight. Vega rocking gold is also welcome and it’s been nice to see her solid work of late be rewarded. Lots of back and forth between the two that was honestly pretty rough in spots. It seems either one or the other was always a step off. They tried pushing through it but the clunkiness was pretty evident.

The finish came when Vega hit an awful-looking 619 which prompted the involvement of Green’s Secret Hervice. The attempted interference was only temporarily successful as Vega was able to turn the tide back in her favor and hit a Code Red from the top rope to put this one to bed. This was pretty bad, no other way around it. The energy was there and Vega had the crowd behind her but it was a bad day at the office that even resulted in Green getting a busted nose.

Result: Zelina Vega def. Chelsea Green via pinfall

Grade: D

John Cena vs. R-Truth

Truth coming out to Cena’s music and replicating his entrance is hilarious. This man is a national treasure. Cena, of course, did not take kindly to the homage. He began tearing into Truth, meticulously hitting his offense and savoring every minute. He let his guard down at one point, however, and Truth managed to spark a rally. He used Cena’s own sequence of moves against him, even hitting an AA for a near fall.

Cena had enough and grabbed his title belt, intending to use it. Truth saw this and pleaded with his “hero” not to use it. Cena relented, but it was all a ploy as he nailed Truth with a low blow behind the referee’s back before hitting the AA for the pin. A short but entertaining bout for Cena’s Tampa swan song here at Saturday Night’s Main Event that saw both men playing their roles to perfection.

Result: John Cena def. R-Truth via pinfall

Grade: B

Steel Cage Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest

I always love seeing these two throw down, so this should be a ton of fun. Drew catching Priest before the bell and immediately introducing two chairs into the mix is about par for the course for the ‘Scottish Psychopath.’ Priest eventually rallied back and at one point scaled the cage looking to escape. McIntyre made him pay with a massive Superplex and followed up with a Claymore for a two-count.

McIntyre tried to recreate his victory at Wrestlemania by going for a chair-assisted Claymore but missed. This allowed Priest to regain the advantage. In a callback to how he eliminated his mentor Edge, Priest nailed McIntyre with a One Man Conchairto and walked out the cage door. He considered re-entering to continue the punishment but thought better of it and planted his feet on the floor to secure the win. Solid brawl that didn’t quite hit the heights of their awesome Maina bout.

Result: Damian Priest def. Drew McIntyre by escaping the cage

Grade: B

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Logan Paul vs. Jey Uso

The Tampa crowd was alive for Uso’s entrance. It’s always a spectacle. There’s not a lot of time left in the show, so this one may be a sprint. Paul takes control early and has no problem leaning into the boos from the fans. Paul gets a near fall and is not happy with the ref. He then goes for a springboard moonsault but Uso gets the knees up to counter. Paul tried to end it with a Buckshot Lariat but ate a Superkick from the champ instead.

Speaking of the champ, John Cena decided to get involved by dragging the referee out of the ring and attacking Uso. He looked to be setting things up to cost Uso the title when Cody Rhodes hit the scene to a raucous ovation. He took care of Cena and dodged a sneak attack from Paul and a pair of brass knuckles. Paul wound up eating a spear from Uso for his trouble and eating the pin. Rhodes then grabbed the mic and set up Cena/Paul vs. Rhodes/Uso for Money in the Bank. The match was fine but the draw here was clearly the ending to set up Rhodes’ return and the tag match for the next PLE. Still, this was a fun capper to an exciting evening that sent the crowd home happy.

Result: Jey Uso def. Logan Paul via pinfall
