WWE had a spectacular year on all fronts. That definitely included match quality. Looking back through the last 12 months, there was no shortage of bangers to choose from. Narrowing it down was no easy feat, but that’s what we’re here to do! So without further ado, here are the Top 5 WWE Matches of 2024.
5. Gunther vs. Damian Priest (SummerSlam)
Two of the hardest hitters in the business today both managed to reach the top of WWE in 2024. On their way there, their paths collided at this year’s SummerSlam where Priest defended the World Heavyweight Championship against ‘The Ring General.’ This physical affair ended under controversial circumstances but was a fantastic contest that saw Priest’s first world title reign give way to Gunther’s first run with the top prize.

4. Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge (NXT: Deadline)
Since its 2022 debut, the Iron Survivor Challenge has established itself as one of the most exciting matches around. This year, the women’s match was the standout. It delivered all manner of athleticism, drama, and even comedy (thanks primarily to Wren Sinclair). With how these five women tore the house down, it’s safe to say that the future of the WWE women’s division looks extremely bright.
3. AJ Styles vs. Cody Rhodes (Backlash France)
Aided by one of the hottest crowds in recent memory (thank you, Lyon), AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes put on a wrestling clinic for the French fans. It was Rhodes’ first high-profile defense of his newly acquired Undisputed WWE Championship. He passed the test with flying colors. But this was also another fantastic showcase for Styles, who even over two decades into his career was still more than worthy of his ‘phenomenal’ moniker.

2. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Bad Blood)
A feud with nuclear heat that ran throughout most of the year culminated in one of the bloodiest, most brutal Hell in a Cell match ever put on…as it should have. Punk and McIntyre left everything in the ring until only one man was standing tall. On this night, it was Punk. But there was no question that both men delivered on all fronts in this clash. If their paths ever cross again, this is gonna be a hard one for them to top.

1. Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns (Wrestlemania XL: Night 2)
Cody Rhodes couldn’t have asked for a better finish to his story than this masterpiece. The match had it all. Drama and stakes were at maximum levels and the sold-out Philly crowd was eating it all up at every step. The star-studded affair saw appearances from John Cena, The Rock and even The Undertaker. It all led to ‘The American Nightmare’ ending Reigns’ historic title run, finally capturing his long-coveted prize to cap off one of the greatest main events in Wrestlemania history.
