Samoa Joe took control after CM Punk and Jack Perry got it into at All In. With Punk fired and Perry still suspended, we hear how Joe describes the situation.
Samoa Joe Downplays CM Punk – Jack Perry Incident
Unless CM Punk can find another promotion to work for, Samoa Joe will be considered his final opponent. They opened the All In card from England, where Punk left the victor.
Right before Punk headed to the ring for his match, he got into an altercation with Jack Perry. As a result, Perry remains suspend and Punk was let go.
Details from that day are still somewhat vague. Tony Khan said he feared for his life and Joe got in the middle between Punk and Perry,. which saw him praised.
In an interview with The New York Post, Samoa Joe was asked if the scene backstage was ‘intense.’
“That’s up to whoever perceived it,” said Samoa Joe. “I’m used to that environment. Those things don’t seem very intense to me, but it could be something crazy intense to someone else.”
“I wasn’t really affected by the moment. I was more focused on getting the show back on track and getting us going because it was bell time.”
“Everybody got together. Got their heads together and lined up and got ready to do the show and we went out there and we did the show. That really was the focus at that point in time.”
“We got a massive show to do and we got fans out there rabid to see that happen. So it’s important that we step up and do it and it’s important that we did and I was proud to be a part of that.”
Outside of the fiasco from the start, the show was a major success. It was the highest grossing pay per view for AEW when it comes to money and attendance.
Some think Punk will now head to WWE and be part of Survivor Series in November. He did not leave WWE on good terms, but everything has changed since Endeavor purchased the company.
