“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair debuted on AEW’s Dynamite this week, participating in a segment with long-time rival and friend, Sting.
Ric Flair’s Debut On All Elite Wrestling
During the Dynamite segment, Tony Khan awarded Sting his retirement gift. This turned out to be the debut of The Nature Boy on All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Sting announced last week that his retirement match would take place in 2024, during the Revolution pay-per-view (PPV). It was announced that Khan had a present for the iconic talent, which would be unveiled this week.
After some chatter between Sting, Darby Allin, and Tony Schiavone, The Naitch’s legendary theme music hit, and he made his way down that aisle. The Philly crowd was both shocked and excited to see him.
Flair hugged Sting and noted that he wanted to “ride it out” with him, likely meaning that he wanted to be by his side for Sting’s final run. Still, it’s unclear if The Nature Boy will now be a regular on programming, moving forward.
Nick Wayne, Luchasaurus, and Christian Cage ended up interrupting the segment, and a six-man tag match was set up for Full Gear. It didn’t seem as if Flair would be Allin and Sting’s partner, but it also wasn’t stated that he wouldn’t be.
Still, Allin and Sting did talk to Adam Copeland backstage, who currently has a storyline with Christian. Copeland continues to refuse to fight his long-time friend.
It’s also important to note that Naitch had his “final retirement” match last July 2022. At the age of 74, it’s doubtable he’ll enter the ring again for action, but with Flair, you never know.
Sting and The Nature Boy had an incredible rivalry back in the day when they both were in NWA and WCW. In fact, it spilled over to when both wrestlers had runs at Impact Wrestling, too.
