Reports reveal that Mercedes Mone, once known as Sasha Banks in the WWE, could be returning to the company after she recovers from her injury.
Mercedes Mone Returning To The WWE?
Back in May 2022, Sasha Banks along with then-partner Naomi (Trinity Fatu) left the WWE due to creative differences. They were formally released months later, with Fatu joining Impact and Banks joining New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).
Mone is currently still on contract with NJPW. She suffered an ankle injury in May of this year.
It’s been rumored that once she fully recovers, she could make an AEW debut. The wrestling superstar was at All In that took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
Still, WrestlingPurists’s Ibou, who has broken massive stories in the industry before, posted something interesting on X/Twitter. He notes that she could return to the WWE but was quick to also say that this wasn’t a formal report.
In addition, he states that a few people within All Elite Wrestling are in the know about the partnership status of AEW and the star. Only time will tell.
Mone’s Injury Update
The star has been off for over six months due to an ankle injury at NJPW’s STRONG Resurgence. Still, a new video she shared on her social media seems to indicate that she’s training for her in-ring comeback.
Will CM Punk Take Down Roman Reigns?
As you can see above, she’s doing some exercises within the ring. While she ditched her walking boot, it does look as if she’s wearing support braces on her left leg in the video.
It’s clear she’s gearing up for a major wrestling comeback, but will she end up heading to the WWE or become All Elite? Prior to getting hurt, there were rumors that she’d work AEW’s All In event, but all bets were off after her ankle injury.
