In news that surely will make some fans high with joy, Matt Riddle and Rob Van Dam are set to fight on an upcoming card.
With Riddle recently released by WWE…the battle will not be fighting there.
And, with his non-compete still having the better part of a month to run…Riddle won’t be joining RVD in AEW just yet.
If at all, based on the reported interest.
What Matt Riddle’s Next Move Could Be
So if not WWE…nor AEW…then where…and for that matter, when? Since, that pesky non-compete sort of limits Riddle.
Timing is important, and this booking is not happening until March of 2024.
Because it’s being announced now, we know it rules out a major promotion, given the legal issues that would cause.
So…
Matt Riddle And Rob Van Dam Set To Fight
And the pair are set to fight for Big Time Wrestling, on the Reunion 3 card.
Big Time Wrestling, in case you did not know, is Van Dam’s own promotion.
Any amount of the WWE Hall of Famer and the former UFC talent working together is worth getting excited about.
Given they both share a similar mindset about certain hobbies, for as long as Riddle had been in WWE, I always expected that the company might do something with the pair.
Alas, they did not, and now Riddle is gone.
And while RVD is in the company’s hall of fame, his status with WWE might be shaky too.
While it was said that his recent appearances with AEW were cleared with the home office…we’ve since seen his pending WrestleMania plans changed.
So fans finally get to see the Original Bro and The Whole F’n Show lock horns, it won’t be on as big a stage as we’d like.
As much as their out of the ring interests overlap, they also have similar in ring styles that should work well together. Both are incredibly athletic, though Van Dam probably likes to fly just a bit more than Riddle.
Either way, in Ohio, early in 2024, we will get to see what these two can do.
