According to a report, there was a huge AEW backstage shake-up recently that eventually led to a release. More on this story, below.

AEW Backstage Shakeup & Release

According to the Wrestling Observer, there was a notable change in the AEW production department, which resulted in a release. In fact, Dave Meltzer notes this is “major” behind-the-scenes news.

As per the report, AEW’s Vice President of Post-Production, Kevin Sullivan, was released from the company this week. The report notes that Senior Vice President and Co-Executive Producer, Mike Mansury, was the person who made this call.

It is being said that Kevin Sullivan was quite highly regarded backstage. He had been with AEW since the early days of its inception, coming from Impact.

In fact, Kevin was key to building the “entire” All Elite Wrestling post-production team. He was also instrumental in putting together content for the company’s YouTube channel, video packages, and vignettes.

It’s important to note that this Kevin Sullivan isn’t the “Taskmaster” (wrestler) Kevin Sullivan from the old WCW days. However, this Kevin Sullivan has created a major impact on wrestling, in production work.

The report states there are a ton of questions regarding the details of his release. This isn’t the only backstage shuffle up as of late.

After all, QT Marshall, Vice President, Manager of Talent Relations recently called it quits from the company. He hopped on X/Twitter to reveal the news.

Still, Marshall does note in his tweet the reason for him leaving the company is a feeling that AEW is “shifting” from its original beginnings. This is something the WO report notes as well, as it relates to Kevin Sullivan’s departure.

Sullivan had been with AEW since October 2019, which made him one of the longest-serving backstage employees for the company. Before AEW, he was VP of Production for Impact and an Executive Producer.
