Tony Khan recently made a statement about the fact that he would not allow AEW to conduct “mass releases” and how he cares about his employees. WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently responded to these comments on his podcast.
Kevin Nash’s Response To Tony Khan
During a recent episode of “Kliq This”, the former WWE star read out Tony Khan’s recent comments about company cuts. Khan notes that there should be more loyalty at times between organizations and their employees.
Khan also states that “this” (AEW) is a family business and not a public company. He notes that “even if he gets punched in the face” with a situation, that does not mean he’ll take it out on his employees by releasing 100 staff or cutting 30 wrestlers.
Tony goes on to say that he really cares about the people who work for AEW, and he’d do anything to protect the livelihood and jobs of those working for him. He’s quick to point out that this is the difference between when it comes to a family business and a public company.
Still, he also states that not every family business has principles like this, but AEW does. He notes this is how he was raised.
Jon Moxley Slapped With A Fine By AEW
Nash responded by comparing a hot dog stand to four Burger King franchise restaurants. He notes that if four BK restaurants get shut down, it’s easy for one little hot dog stand to say, “we’d never do that.”
After all, BK is a massive publicly traded company. He also states that there are a lot of factors involved (when it comes to mass releases).
Still, the WWE Hall of Famer was quick to also state that Tony Khan is not saying these things to be “malicious”. He adds that he’s just kind and loves this business.
Still, he was also clear to note that comparing possible releases in the WWE versus AEW is “completely different”. Both companies are in very differing situations.
