During this past weekend, Dominik Mysterio dropped his WWE NXT North American Championship to Trick Williams at the No Mercy pay-per-view (PPV). According to a report, this was not part of the plan.
Mysterio’s WWE NXT North American Championship Loss Was Unexpected
Since Dominik lost the title this past Saturday, some have wondered if this was the plan all along, and if Mustafa Ali hadn’t been released from the company, would he have won his first WWE gold? Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez recently talked about this.
According to Alvarez, there was no plan for Ali to win the title when he was Dominik’s first scheduled challenger. In fact, Bryan speculates during his report that Trick will likely offer Mysterio a rematch and there’s a good chance he will win back his championship, as he was never supposed to lose it.
Alvarez goes on to say that Dominik wasn’t supposed to lose it. Mysterio winning it back, especially if Carmelo comes in and causes Trick’s loss would also play well with the current storyline where Carmelo is jealous that Trick has the championship, and he does not.
Is WWE “Punishing” Dominik Mysterio For Action After RAW?
Then again, Dom-Dom made headlines last week with a viral video showing him kicking a company official to the ground after Monday Night RAW went off the air. The footage has made its rounds on social media, and many have speculated that this could be the reason that the star dropped his championship.
During this week’s RAW, it was announced that Dominik will be facing Williams during the October 3rd edition of the developmental brand’s show. As such, there’s a good chance that he’ll face Trick and win the title to become a two-time North American Champion.
