On this RAW In A Nutshell, I come in with one hope…that we will have some huge happenings after SummerSlam.
SummerSlam was all well and good, and pretty enjoyable…but as far as surprises go? It was kind of lacking.
Perhaps we get some surprises tonight to make up for it?
I mean, seeing The Rock was a longshot. We had heard that The Undertaker was going to be in town per WWE request…but nothing there either.
So, maybe we won’t see anything quite that big…but we can dream.
But, with the biggest part of the summer now in the books, it’s time for Superstars to start lining things up for the last few months of 2023.
Yes, I said what I said.
The questions are plenty…is Finn Balor done with his pursuit of Seth Rollins and the gold? Or is he going to have to deal with tensions between he and Damian Priest first?
Who gets GUNTHER next? And…does it even matter?
What about the unified tag titles?
See what I mean? Payback is less than a month away, and there’s plenty of action that we didn’t even get to in Detroit.
Between now and Pittsburgh…we shall get it.
For now…will we have…
Huge Happenings After SummerSlam : RAW In A Nutshell
Let’s crack open this Nutshell and find out!
Best Match of the night:
This certainly gets a vote…
Otherwise, no shock, the six man tag main event. Nice to see Nakamura getting that main event rub, too.
Worst match of the night:
Honestly not sure I have one.
Crowd Chants of the Night:
No chants, but a hot Minnesota crowd to be sure.
Star of the Night
Choice number one…
Much respect to those in the main event…but I think I had only one choice…
Spot of the Night:
How could this not be it?!
Well…both shots involved Rollins…
Jobber of the Night:
I mean…not the worst way here…but no one was going to win over a returning New Day, were they?
So yes, sorry guys, but this goes to the Viking Raiders.
Upset of the Night:
Raquel was upset at Rhea. So…she attacked the champ ahead of our main event.
And did you see the wounds, especially on Ripley? They were not playing nice…
Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:
It was spoiled before the show, but the New Day is BACK.
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have both recovered from their ailments. The duo returned to challenge The Viking Raiders.
And naturally, they were victorious.
Also…Baszler sporting a nice shiner.
1 SummerSlam Match Had Creative Issues
Botch of the night:
LA Knight, believe it or not, had one during his promo. Went to tell Miz his career was in the toilet, and got a little tongue tied.
Also, Wade called Francesca #88 a trumpet.
Commentary of the night:
Nice to not hear Kevin Patrick.
I totally get why they made the move they did.
LOL Moment of the night:
LA Knight shaking The Miz’s hand.
I mean, after he delivered BFT…but he did get the hand shake.
How about that interaction between Kofi, Xavier and Jackie.
Noteworthy Moment:
Maybe finally time to see JD McDonagh added to Judgement Day…or a split of that faction and Finn has his new number 2?
Overall lowlights:
Only heard it on RAW, Sonya Deville is now out with a torn ACL. I am sorry, but if I was lucky enough to be in the women’s tag ranks…those belts seem cursed right now.
Overall highlights:
I found this to be a really good way to get things moving toward Payback. Got the SummerSlam highlights out of the way, and worked toward setting up the next feuds.
Tension still there with Judgement Day, but a new wrinkle.
New #1 contender to take on GUNTHER…and it’s a really new face, too.
Definitely some tension between Cody and Seth too…hoping this isn’t shades of another Rollins turn, but who knows.
After the final bell:
But it was the Shinsuke turn, if I had to guess. That or maybe Nakamura gets into the title mix?
A Kinshasha to Rollins to end the show is one way to do it.
