Drew McIntyre is one of the many wrestlers who needs a new contract, but did WWE make an offer to the popular wrestler?
Has WWE Offered Drew McIntyre A New Contract?
With the new year, comes big changes. Several contracts are up shortly, with AEW and WWE trying to secure new deals for their rosters.
Drew McIntyre has been mentioned several times as his contract with WWE should end shortly. As of now, neither side has confirmed what the future might have in-store.
According to Mike Johnson on PWInsider’s Q&A session, there is little on the update side.
”We have not heard WWE and McIntyre have come to terms on a new deal yet,” said Johnson.
It sounds like McIntyre’s contract runs until around April. Although, there is a good chance WWE added time for any absences.
Therefore, McIntyre might not be the top priority for WWE. They could care more about re-signing those who are on the verge of leaving.
At the same time, both companies are seeing who will be free agents in the near future. The entire situation should help McIntyre secure a better contract.
And, remember there are more opportunities besides WWE and AEW. Those are just the two largest pro wrestling companies in North America.
TNA and NWA are also in play. Plus, there is probably some interest overseas, like with NJPW or AAA.
McIntyre is currently in his second run with WWE. The first one was a very young and immature wrestler being pushed too quickly by Vince McMahon.
He traveled the world and got a better idea of the game. Upon retuning to WWE, he was pushed heavily.
During the pandemic, he led the company as the WWE Champion. The biggest disappointment is how McIntyre was never able to win or defend the belt in-front of live fans.
So, will WWE be able to re-sign Drew McIntyre to a new contract?
