Drew McIntyre is one of the top stars in WWE whose contract was up rather soon. Now, the latest rumor is he did indeed re-sign a new deal.
Rumor Drew McIntyre Has Re-Signed With WWE
There are reportedly several contracts up for both WWE and AEW wrestlers. One name that we have been hearing about since the summer was Drew McIntyre.
The belief was his previous deal would expire around WrestleMania 40. Therefore, WWE has been trying for months to re-sign him.
Apparently, a deal might have been completed. BWE, which has a solid record for breaking backstage pro wrestling stories, noted how McIntyre did re-sign.
There is no word on how long the deal would be for or the amount of money. Both AEW and Impact Wrestling would have likely made a pitch to bring McIntyre in.
This is his second run with WWE. During that time, he captured the WWE Championship on two occasions.
His major push started at the Royal Rumble by eliminating Brock Lesnar, before wining the entire match. As a result, he dethroned Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 36 Night Two to capture gold.
Unfortunately, this all took place as the pandemic was starting. Therefore, no live fans saw McIntyre’s major moments.
WWE did tease a possible heel turn after McIntyre’s most recent loss. Rhea Ripley saw a defeated McIntyre backstage and got people talking about the Scottish wrestler going to the dark side.
I could easily see WWE rewinding McIntyre vs Rollins. Although, I would book McIntyre as the heel to change things up.
So, did Drew McIntyre make the right call by re-singing with WWE?
