CM Punk has been on all three WWE brands since returning to the company at this year’s Survivor Serie’s premium live event (PLE). But many question what his long-term goals are with NXT.
CM Punk’s Long-Term Goals With WWE NXT
Punk was backstage for NXT Deadline this past Saturday, chatting with talent and WWE officials. He would then appear in the opening segment with Shawn Michaels, much to the surprise of everyone.
When Monday Night hit, he was on RAW. However, rather than heading home, he flew to Orlando to attend Tuesday’s NXT show.
According to Fightful Select, while Punk didn’t appear on the show, he was backstage throughout the day and gave talent feedback after their bouts. So, what’s his endgame with WWE NXT?
As per WrestlePurists’ Ibou, the Straight Edge Superstar’s goal with the developmental brand is to succeed NXT’s current head, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. According to the report, Michaels was one of the first employees to endorse Punk’s return before it happened.
WWE sources have told Fightful Select that Punk succeeding Michaels would be a long way off. It’s important to note that there are no plans for Shawn to wrap up his time with NXT.
CM Punk Spends Time With WWE NXT Talents
Punk was at the WWE Performance Center later this week. He trained with some talent.
There was “massive genuine” excitement when he arrived on Tuesday. It’s been noted that he received nothing but positive reviews from the roster.
People have also stated that he’s been a pleasure to interact with. It’s also been noted that the former AEW Champion was willing to help anyone who asked for assistance.
According to the report, Punk moved around the building, including the Gorilla Position, and behind the hard-camera side to observe the production crew. Still, it’s been said that during Punk’s OVW run, he was known to “observe” at television tapings and “soak up” production knowledge from Paul Heyman.
