For the second time since his stunning return, the man got a live mic, and this time, CM Punk calls out WWE Superstars.

A few in particular, with some other veiled shots mixed in for good fun.

If fans were a bit bummed by the sappy “I’m home” Punk promo that we got after Survivor Series, this one made up for it.

The Superstar himself noted that Nick Aldis and the rest of the WWE folks got smart and put him on in the middle of the show. Which was referring to him going last on RAW and running out of time.

This time around, he did not have to cut lines or watch the clock (presumably), and the result was quite the promo.

Specifically, it was the type of segment fans have long known to be Punk’s bread and butter.

This promo was notable for a few reasons.

First and foremost, he stated his intentions: to main event WrestleMania.

Now, more than ever, you have to think WWE is happy that the show has become a two night affair.

Beyond that, Punk covers a litany of Superstar dream matches.

He mentioned LA Knight and Randy Orton, especially because they were in the evening’s main event.

In debating whether he would sign with RAW or SmackDown, he called attention to both Uso brothers.

He also took time to give Cody some love.

But there were two notable call outs. And…possibly a shot fired at either Kevin Owens…or someone else (my vote…someone else).

One got named, the other didn’t.

Punk tossed daggers at Seth Rollins, who many expect to be the Second City Saint’s first major program. But, all the while, he never named him.

Yet.

There have already been reports that we can expect an eventual Punk-Reigns feud, and the popular Superstar didn’t take long to acknowledge Reigns.

And also to call Reigns out.

Punk reminded the crowd, and Reigns, that he himself was the “OG Paul Heyman Guy”, and indicated he might just need to win the Rumble and finish what he started.

Here is something to ponder…

It was reported a while back that WWE creative types have a good idea of who will be the one to defeat Roman Reigns, and when.

There have been thoughts that it won’t be Cody at WrestleMania 40 even.

Now, Punk was not even remotely a possibility for WWE when those remarks were made. Could anyone possibly imagine Punk being that guy?

I want to say no…but again, until very recently, such an idea wasn’t even really possible.
