WWE and WCW legend Eric Bischoff believes if Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were free agents, WWE would pass on signing them for a specific reason.
There are very few wrestlers in history who had legendary careers without needing WWE since the promotion became the No. 1 company in the world. There are very few Stings and Ric Flairs in the industry. However, over the last decade, Omega and the Bucks have been able to achieve that same feat.
During a run on the indy scene, a legendary tenure in NJPW, and now in AEW, the trio are some of the biggest names in the industry and did it without ever stepping inside a WWE ring. But that doesn’t mean the company has not tried to break that streak over the years.
Early in 2023, they were reportedly set to hit free agency and the word was that WWE had serious interest. However, the three stars chose to stay with the company they helped to found. Yet, if they were available right now, former WCW President Eric Bischoff believes they would not draw any interest from WWE.
Eric Bischoff claims Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks have hurt their value
“When you talk about Kenny, and you talk about where The Young Bucks are today, I think their perceived value was much greater before going to AEW than it is now,” Bischoff said on a recent edition of the “83 Weeks” podcast. “I think the perception of them has been taken down enough that it’s just probably not as attractive to WWE as it would’ve been three or four years ago.”
Bischoff has been open about his distaste for AEW’s current product and how they produce wrestling. Furthermore, considering what he has done in the business, his opinion does hold a great deal of weight. However, if the company is willing to sign an aging tandem like Motor City Machine Guns well into their careers, they would definitely be interested in acquiring the trio while still in their prime.
