Dustin Rhodes broke out and became famous in professional wrestling for his work as Goldust in WWE. However, he’s worked a lot more around the world as Dustin Rhodes. The older Rhodes was a founding talent at the launch of AEW in 2019. Once Tony Khan bought Ring of Honor, Rhodes began working in that promotion as well. Fans have known that his contract with AEW and ROH was set to expire this fall, but recent developments made folks think that Dustin had signed a new deal.
Except, he has not yet
According to Fightful, his contract expires imminently. What makes this most interesting? Rhodes currently holds multiple Ring of Honor titles. Of course, holding gold does not really mean anything relative to contracts. If Rhodes and Khan have a strong relationship-and it seems good by all accounts-then it is entirely possible to keep wrestling under a handshake agreement. His brother did that too. Of course, eventually, his brother didn’t re-sign with AEW and instead returned to WWE. But Dustin Rhodes and AEW are happy together, right?

So, as of this moment, Dustin Rhodes could be a free agent shortly. At 55, Dustin may not have much left to do in the ring, but at the same time he still holds his own. Could WWE bring him in, have a program or two and put him in the Hall of Fame? For what it’s worth, we know he’s been around to watch his brother. Further, he was name dropped in at least one promo (not by Cody), and he was referred to as a Hall of Famer (it was quickly turned into “future”). It isn’t definitive, but it feels like there is enough interest from WWE to bring Dustin home from AEW.
