There are those within the company who had long felt Daniel Garcia was a star to build around. AEW has a few of those, and some-like MJF-were once expected to be hot free agents. WWE surely would have had an offer for Maxwell, but it never had the chance. There have been those who have figured the competition would be interested in Garcia as well, should the opportunity arise. And, as of this writing? The opportunity could very much still arise.
Plans in flux
According to a report via Fightful, things are up in the air with Daniel Garcia. While some in AEW do expect him to re-sign with the company, there is concern because he has not yet. Per the report, Garcia was initially expected to defeat MJF at this year’s All Out PPV. We now know that Garcia did not win that match. According to the report, the reason for that change? Because as of match time, Garcia remained on his expiring deal. That deal, barring a very recent change we aren’t aware of, comes up in the next few weeks.

What remains to be seen is if there is mutual interest between Daniel Garcia and WWE. And, if there is mutual interest, how much contact has there been between the two parties. Could it be enough to have Garcia see his AEW contract expire and potentially be the latest former AEW talent to head to WWE? Or is Daniel Garcia just using the possible WWE interest as leverage to extract more money out of Tony Khan?
