The main event of UFC 300 is finally set, yet Jamahal Hill says he has received mixed reactions to landing the much-coveted spot in a title fight against Alex Pereira.
For the last couple of months, there has been a great deal of speculation about who would headline the UFC’s historic UFC 300 card in April. MMA legends like Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, and even Georges St-Pierre have been linked to the main event spot. However, none of them will be taking part in the event.

Instead, after a bunch of failed negotiations with various fighters, the company announced over the weekend that the card would be topped by a UFC light heavyweight title bout between current champion Alex Pereira and former titlist Jamahal Hill.
Hill lost his title after suffering a torn Achilles last year, and getting to regain the belt he never gave up inside the Octagon is a fascinating story. Especially in a scrap against Pereira, the fastest fighter to win titles in two different divisions in promotion history.
Jamahal Hill confused by fans ‘crying’ about UFC 300 card
Yet, it seems that due to the hype around the UFC 300 main event, some fans were disappointed by the weekend reveal, and that confuses “Sweet Dreams.”
“The reaction to this has been kind of a mix of things and whatnot,” Hill said in a recent post on his YouTube channel. “There’s been a lot of outrage, a lot of disappointment, and things like that. To be honest, it’s crazy to me because for the most part, a lot of these people are the same people that have spent the better part of a year, or however long, calling me ‘cry baby.’
“But it’s crazy to see how a card can be stacked; the main card literally has a former champion or champion in every single fight and some even facing former champions in every single fight in the main card. Each one of the prelims is worthy of being its own separate main event and people are crying. Like, let’s really be real. Really crying because you had unreal expectations for something,” he added.
UFC 300 goes down on April 13 and will take place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
