At 47 year old, John Cena made the call the retire in 2025. We have seen this play-out many times before, only for the wrestler to return to action. Typically, it is not a pretty picture to see. Cena’s retirement feels different. Heck, he did surprise everyone at Money in the Bank (MITB) with his announced appearance to confirm retirement.

Looking back, it is always better to leave before overstaying your welcome. As Cena prepares for a new chapter in his life, AEW’s Chris Jericho does not seem interested in slowing-down. “I’ll know when it’s time,” said Jericho McGuire on Wrestling. “I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and I’m still contributing at a high level. I can still have the best match on the show on any given night — not every night but any given night. And I just really love what we’re doing with AEW right now. So, there’s really no rush on that.”

Chris Jericho Having Too Much Fun To Retire Like John Cena

“And when I know, I’ll know,” continued Jericho. “And, I think that’s kind of the best way to put it. For right now, I’m having too much fun and enjoying it and really enjoying building AEW. Just five years in, we’ve already gone so far and have so much further to go on the highest of levels. So from that standpoint, we’ll see. And as of right now, as long as I’m having fun and enjoying myself and feeling good in the ring and out, there’s no reason to stop.”

Jericho praised Cena for his work ethic and always connecting with everyone. They battled in numerous storylines in WWE, including one where Jericho was fired and left the company for a few years. I do think Jericho should begin ending his in-ring run. The last few years have seen him take slack for inserting himself into angles and the entire Kylie Rae thing. So, should Chris Jericho retire like John Cena?
