The long-tenured WWE veteran, former leader of the Brawling Brutes, had missed a lot of time. He was last seen in late summer of 2023. We were told at the time that he was going to miss a significant chunk of time due to a major shoulder injury, but details were scarce. At the same time, there was also chatter about his WWE contract expiring in the not too distant future (though there will no doubt be injury time tacked on).

But he’s back!

Knowing he had been out a while, there were certainly fans hoping Sheamus would be a surprise entrant in the 2024 Royal Rumble. That event came and went, but no luck. WrestleMania also came and went, without Sheamus making an on camera appearance. But then, on the RAW after WrestleMania, he was back. Sort of. His return was confirmed, and on the April 15 RAW, he was back in the ring.

Following his return, Sheamus shared some details on social media. He confirmed that he had worked through a career threatening shoulder injury. So significant that he said as recently as two months ago, he was very nearly retired. Luckily he worked with a team of professionals that made his return a reality. Of course, in spite of his happy return, some picked on him for appearing out of shape. The former champion’s response? “I am big boned”. Considering how hard he hits, I certainly wouldn’t disrespect him.

Knowing he’s already had a Hall of Fame career, it’s kind of awesome to hear how he wouldn’t just hang up the boots. There is still one elusive title for him in WWE, so perhaps soon enough he will claim that Intercontinental Championship.
