WWE releases happen and after removing Kevin Patrick from the SmackDown commentary table, his future there was seemingly over.
WWE Releases Kevin Patrick
According to PWInsider, Kevin Patrick has been released from the WWE. As of this writing, a replacement has not been announced.
With that being said, as per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer News, Michael Cole will step back into his SmackDown commentator’s seat, “for the time being”. Cole is currently calling the action on Monday Night RAW and will likely once again pull double duty.
According to Meltzer, Cole will join Corey Graves on SD. No one new has been hired.
For those that recall, Patrick was on the RAW announce team, before his SmackDown stint. He moved to the Blue brand in August 2023.
Initially, it was a three-man team, with Corey Graves, accompanying Cole and Kevin Patrick. So, it’s been said that the WWE was hoping that teaming Kevin up with Cole would help him “grow” as an announcer.
Cole called both SD and RAW, until he became exclusive to RAW, earlier in January 2024. This was when Graves and Patrick turned into a two-man team, where the idea was for Kevin to “lead” the team.
Kevin Patrick’s History With The WWE
Originally from Ireland, Patrick joined the WWE in March 2021. He began as a backstage correspondent, and also did play-by-play, and was the host of RAW Talk.
In addition, he co-hosted WWE’s After the Bell with Corey Graves for some time. It’s important to note the podcast stopped releasing new shows after November 2023.
