According to a report, Kevin Patrick is no longer a commentator on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. More on this story, below.
Kevin Patrick Out As WWE SmackDown Commentator
According to a report from SE Scoops, the SmackDown commenting table is changing, and Patrick has been ousted from the announce team. As of this writing, there is no replacement for him.
Kevin has been announcing the Blue brand’s action, along with Corey Graves. When asked for the reason behind the change, a WWE source states, “It just wasn’t working out”.
Prior to the first SmackDown episode this year, Michael Cole, a veteran with the company for over three decades, was taken off the commentary table. That left Graves and Patrick as the two remaining color commentators for the show.
Michael Cole is currently on Monday Night RAW, exclusively. He calls the action, along with Wade Barrett.
A report in early January notes Kevin’s commentary was being closely watched by WWE officials. The backstage belief is that Patrick needed to prove his capabilities as SD’s color commentator.
Kevin Patrick’s WWE Career
It’s unclear where he’s heading for his next WWE assignment. The Irish commentator started working for the company in 2021.
He began on RAW in October 2022. He’d then then moved to SmackDown in 2023.
Before coming to the United States, he studied at Griffith College in Dublin, majoring in journalism. In addition, he worked as a runner for RTE Sport during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece.
He moved to the U.S. in 2009 and started working for CNN. Patrick was also a commentator of Apple TV+’s Atlanta home games and worked for FOX Sports.
Where will Kevin Patrick end up next? That’s unknown, but here’s hoping he enjoys more success in his next role.
