Did Sting Pick The Young Bucks For Retirement Match?

At AEW Revolution, Sting will conclude his forty year career. While no opponent or opponents has been confirmed, we got a huge tease on Dynamite.

At the end of the episode, The Young Bucks (Mattt Jackson & Nick Jackson) returned. They exchanged eye contact with Sting, which was enough to get people talking.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall how Sting has been given a good amount of control booking his retirement. Then, he continued how a tag match with The Young Bucks is something he is onboard for.

“Sting has had a major say in who his opponent or opponents will be,” the report stated. “We’ve heard that he’s been more keen on continuing to do tag team matches as opposed to a singles match, as he’s indicated in the past.”

“The Young Bucks appeared on AEW Dynamite, hinting that it could be them. As of several weeks ago, that was actively the plan, and one that Sting was on board with.”

“We’re told that Sting getting the right send off has been a very important thing for Tony Khan. We’re told that pretty well whatever Sting wants en route to his send off, the company has been willing to make happen.”

This retirement is pretty epic. He has wrestled for every major company possible in AEW, WWE, WCW, TNA and Japan.

He turns 65 in two months, so a tag match might be best. A singles match would be ideal, but his body probably cannot take it.

If it was a singles bout, Darby Allin seems like the only choice. Hence, Sting & Darby against The Young Bucks seems to be how this iconic career ends.
