Cody Rhodes re-signing with WWE would be a major score for the company, but will they be able to make the deal happen?
WWE Focused On Re-Signing Cody Rhodes To Longer Deal
With the year almost up, that means contracts from AEW and WWE will expire shortly. WWE is not taking any chances as they look to re-sign a bunch of talent.
Already, WWE knows Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Bayley and Charlotte Flair will not be going anywhere. All four have signed multi-year deals.
Now, WWE is looking to secure Cody Rhodes with a long-term extension according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful. Both sides have been talking the belief is a deal will be reached.
Also, the report stated how TKO wants to make sure they can keep Rhodes in WWE. Many still see him as a future world champion.
It is interesting because Cody kind of started this bidding war between WWE and AEW. In the beginning of AEW, there was Cody, members of The Elite, Tony Khan and few other names.
Then, Rhodes opted to not re-sign with AEW and WWE quickly grabbed him. Since returning to WWE, Rhodes has remained at the top.
He has taken part in memorable feuds with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
Rhodes won the Royal Rumble last year, but lost to Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39. Therefore, he was unable to finish the story he started after returning to WWE.
Before CM Punk returned, Rhodes seemed like a favorite to challenge Reigns again. Now, we could see Punk vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
I don’t see Reigns losing to Punk, so maybe WrestleMania 41 is where the story finishes.
So, is Cody Rhodes re-signing with WWE a lock or are there better options out there?
