Roman Reigns is set to work the Royal Rumble in January, although WWE is still going over several possible opponents.
Several Names Discussed For Roman Reigns At Royal Rumble
Roman Reigns is on a title run we have not seen for about 30 years. For years, he is yet to be pinned in singles action.
In fact, since turning heel, Reigns has only been pinned once. That was courtesy of Jey Uso during the summer.
At Crown Jewel on November 4, Reigns remained Undisputed WWE Universal Champion by defeating LA Knight. Since then, he has not wrestled.
The way things look, Reigns will not compete again in 2023. Although, a match at next month’s Royal Rumble is looking promising.
A major concern is who will step-up for the challenge. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has a few ideas.

In particular, Randy Orton, LA Knight and Kevin Owens have been mentioned. Honestly, those names might not work.
Reigns has defeated Owens several times. In fact, he won at last year’s Royal Rumble against the newest addition to SmackDown.
As noted, Knight was unsuccessful at Crown Jewel. If WWE wants to continue elevating Knight, another loss will not help.
Orton is the most intersting option as he is not part of Reigns’ massive list of accomplishments. The biggest downside might be Orton just returned after about 18 months at Survivor Series and getting pinned right away does not look great.
Personally, a match with AJ Styles sounds better. At the moment, Styles remains off WWE TV but he should be back at any moment.
WWE does have some time to flesh-out their decision. But, they could start a program as early as tonight’s SmackDown.
