It’s entirely possible you didn’t even notice this talent missing, but an NXT Superstar returns from injury and it’s worth discussing.

It has been a busy couple months in WWE in general and specifically for NXT.

As such, some happenings fall through the cracks.

Like, an injury to a Superstar who had recently re-joined the black and gold brand after a significant chunk of time on the main roster.

The Superstar in question is none other than Apollo Crews.

If you didn’t know he was out, or out due to injury, don’t feel too bad.

I had honestly lost track of him, and had generally figured he was being kept off main television shows while the creative team worked on something new for him.

We’ve seen that tactic often enough, but that was not the case here.

The injury confirmation came from Crews himself, via social media and as picked up by other reports.

No mention of the specific injury was made, but Crews missed just under three months, so make of that what you will.

Perhaps he had a severe sprain, or a broken bone? Those are the types of injuries that take a couple months to recover from.

Or, perhaps a concussion and lingering symptoms?

Whatever the case, it doesn’t much matter now.

Crews got back onto a WWE ring, working a Main Event match against Ludwig Kaiser.

What will be interesting to watch now is…what will WWE do with him this time around?

We’ve already seen a number of talents cut loose as part of the formation of TKO after the sale of WWE to Endeavor.

Maybe it was a mild surprise that someone like Crews wasn’t on the cut list, but he remains…so what now?

If he gets to stick with NXT, there ought to be some good opportunities.

The junior WWE brand has a strong mix of rising talents working alongside some more seasoned veterans, as we see names like Dijak and Baron Corbin having success.

And with a few Superstars expected to head to RAW or SmackDown in the coming months, perhaps Apollo Crews will have some big opportunities soon enough.
