During a recent episode of his Grillin JR podcast, Jim Ross notes he’ll be stepping away from his AEW duties, once again. Details on this story are below.
Jim Ross Taking Time Away From AEW
The WWE Hall of Famer notes he’s taking time away from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) to recover from some health issues, starting this week. He notes he believes it’ll be a few weeks, but he’s not sure how many.
One of the reasons is to allow his leg to heal from a fall that occurred this past summer. He reiterates that he loves what he does and that AEW has a “unique” roster.
He goes on to say that there are many talents that require as much help as possible to get over, which goes for any wrestling television show. Still, he states he enjoys doing that and he loves his role.
Still, he says that he needs to take time off to heal, as he’s been suffering for almost two years now. He does note that he’s not in a “great deal of pain”, except after flying when his left swells up and hurts a great deal.
Ross goes on to state that he’s not going to travel to see how things go. He notes that he feels good, strong, and motivated.
He also acknowledges that he’s lucky to work for Tony Khan, as AEW’s President is “paying attention” and brought up the fact that the company wanted him “healthy” for the long run. He states he appreciates what TK is doing, and that he is taking good care of him.
The WWE Hall of Famer made it clear that he has an AEW deal in place that he wants to honor. It has a few months still on it.
He also states that Khan has made it clear that he wants him to stay with AEW and that he himself is not looking to go elsewhere. He just needs some weeks to heal his leg, and the wound is getting better.
Still, the pain he does endure is linked to traveling (flying), and unfortunately, this comes with the territory of his job. Here’s hoping the legend gets the rest and healing he needs so he can get back to doing what he does best.
