According to a report, a 2021 WWE Hall of Famer (HOF) is set to depart from the company, very soon. More details on this story, below.
WWE Hall Of Famer Leaving Company
As per a report from PWInsider Elite, Rich Hering, a HOFer and longtime employee, is set to leave the promotion after being with them for over 50 years. The 2021 Warrior Award recipient will retire after over five decades with the company.
The report reveals that Rich has decided to retire on his own accord and was not released. In fact, the report notes that many within the company wanted Hering to stay.
Rich Hering’s History With The Company
Rich Hering was the Senior VP of Government Relations and Risk Management. The report states that he joined the promotion when it was known as the “WWF” and was run by Vince McMahon Sr.
Many within the company and behind the scenes were shocked when he announced his departure. The report was quick to stress once again that Hering’s retirement was not an Endeavor-related layoff due to the merger.
Before his 50-year stint in the wrestling business, Rich worked at the New York State Athletic Commission. For those that recall, Hering entered the Hall of Fame in 2021, receiving the “Warrior Award” for his contributions behind the scenes in the company.
He oversaw the promotion’s medical and security divisions, vending contracts, and managing risk assessments. He also was part of one of the most memorable on-screen moments in the history of the company when he officiated the wedding ceremony between Miss Elizabeth and “The Macho Man” Randy Savage.
On behalf of everyone here at WNZ, we wish Rich Hering all the best in this new chapter in his life. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement!
