WWE is holding the 2023 Survivor Series premium live event (PLE) on Saturday, November 25th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Two WarGames matches were placed on the event card last year, and now WNZ has a major update on what could happen for this year’s event.
2023 Survivor Series & WarGames Match Update
The WarGames match concept was something exclusive to WWE NXT from 2017 to 2021. It was Triple H’s idea to include it when he was heading up the developmental brand.
Still, when he took over the creative reigns in 2022, he added it to the main roster and the WWE’s November Big Four PLE. Last year, the WarGames matches had a “RAW versus SmackDown” storyline anchored to them.
One was the RAW women’s team facing off against the SmackDown women’s team. The other was a Red brand versus Blue brand men’s match.
Wrestlevotes, an X/Twitter handle that often offers WWE spoilers recently posted an interesting tweet. See above.
It looks like there’s a good chance fans may see a replay of what happened during last year’s event. That is if the company decides to play on the RAW versus SmackDown rivalry, which is a long-going tradition for this specific PLE.
For viewers that caught last week’s SD, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce did say, “Let the games begin” to new SmackDown GM, Nick Aldis. Could this be a coincidence, or foreshadowing of what’s to come?
If WWE officials are looking to truly build storylines for the big PLE, then creating some healthy competition between the GMs would be a good start. Only time will tell.
Still, before the November 25th Big Four PLE, WWE has Crown Jewel on November 4th in Saudi Arabia. It’ll be fascinating to see if the fallout of Crown will affect Survivor Series.
