While nothing has been officially announced or confirmed, a major AEW star could be injured.
Worst of all, it may not have happened in the ring during a tremendous match for the company.
Or, at least it doesn’t seem that way.
The pronouncement of the injury comes from the star himself.
That star is Darby Allin, whom AEW fans have not seen work a match since WrestleDream.
Allin is not known for his imposing size, but rather for being fearless and taking some insane bumps.
And, those insane bumps don’t always happen during wrestling matches, as we can see here as he made an appearance on the traveling stunt show Nitro Circus.
Major AEW Star Could Be Injured
Watching the included clip, we can see Allin attempting a jump on a trike, and the key word here is absolutely attempting.
Things didn’t go quite to plan, and Darby crashed on the landing.
And, as he rode down already with a wrapped up elbow, he remarked that he may be in worse shape.
Specifically, asked how he was, the AEW star believes he fractured his shoulder.
If that is indeed the case, it begs the question…how long before we might see Darby wrestle in AEW again?
I’d imagine the company would like him around for Sting’s farewell tour, as his partner recently announced his impending retirement.
But, if he does indeed have a fractured shoulder or similar injury…taking bumps seems unlikely.
Add in that the former champion is set to attempt to climb Mount Everest next spring (yes, really!), that effort should keep him off television for quite some time.
Honestly, if it weren’t for Sting’s last few months with the company as an active, in-ring performer…I have to wonder if Tony Khan wouldn’t consider shutting him down and keeping him off television for an extended absence.
