Some fans may know him best by another name, but no matter what you call him…Chris Hero will wrestle again.
This is good news for fans of Hero, once known as Kassius Ohno while working in NXT for WWE.
After departing NXT (last appearing for NXT UK), Chris Hero kept a fairly low profile, all things considered.
So low, in fact, that not that long ago, there was some chatter that he may have actually quietly retired from the ring.
To those whispers, Hero responded with “I am not retired…I just haven’t had any opportunities present themselves” (paraphrasing, but that was the general idea of it all).
Not long after that, we got new and interesting reports that Hero was working with AEW in some behind the scenes capacity.
Good that he’s working in the industry, but behind the scenes is also not in the ring.
So, he’s in wrestling but he had no matches lined up.
Chris Hero Will Wrestle Again
A man as talented as him deserves more matches, and more matches he will have.
Remember we mentioned Hero has been working in the background? That wasn’t just with AEW.
Hero was also booking matches for West Coast Pro.
Recently, he got involved in the ring too. Hero confronted fellow former NXT Superstar Timothy Thatcher, as Thatcher was beating down his opponent.
This all lead to Hero the match-maker challenging Thatcher, which of course, was accepted.
Just like that, Chris Hero’s next match-first in a while-is booked to happen on November 17.
For Hero, it’s a big next step…probably.
Or, it could just be a one-off thing.
But with his work also behind the scenes with AEW, I can’t help but wonder if this November match might be a tune up for bigger things down the road.
