On the heels of the pink slips, we get to ask…why was Quincy Elliott released?

One of the biggest NXT talents released, this is a fair question.

He was a name tossed around as part of the “reboot” of NXT, with the brand beginning to focus on new and unknown talents.

Fans remember him serving as a show host, as well as for rocking his “super diva” gimmick.

Elliott was a polarizing character on television, and good or bad, like it or not, it generated interest.

However, that initial buzz never translated into sustained success, and when WWE decided to release a fair few Superstars last week, Elliott was among those granted their freedom.

According to Fightful, the young performer had a knack for rubbing those backstage the wrong way.

He’d had a few issues along the way, and the prevailing opinion was that Elliott would always be someone on the cusp of a release.

Like, no matter how much talent he had, no matter how good he could be, his baggage and all that followed him would always have him at risk of being cut.

So, with that in mind, when the time came to trim the rosters and save some cash, letting the Super Diva go was not a hard call at all.

For his part, he seems to have welcomed the new freedom, promising to speak out and show out once his 30 day non-compete is up.

My first thought…could he wind up in AEW working with The Acclaimed? Maybe too green for that, but you never know.

In the grand scheme of things, the word was that NXT coaches felt he was not showing improvement in the ring, and there was always the reported issues outside of it.

If you are talented and showing out in the ring, sometimes they will overlook issues. He wasn’t, so WWE could not.
