Carlito made a splashing (and surprising) return during the 2023 Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) that took place last May. Since then, there have been rumors about a WWE comeback, but he has yet to officially re-appear in storylines. Is he signed with the company? WNZ has an update …
Update: Carlito Is Signed With The WWE
WWE fans got super excited during this year’s Backlash event when the former Intercontinental Champion swooped in to help Bad Bunny against the entire Judgement Day stable. When all was said and done, Bunny defeated Damian Priest in the match.
In the aftermath, reports have teased that the former WWE star would return to the company. In fact, some had suggested that he had already re-signed a deal for a comeback.
CM Punk Had Bold WWE Return Planned
During a recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer chimed in on this discussion. He states he “believes” the star is signed with the WWE.
He adds that he “signed” at the beginning of July since he pulled out of some indie bookings. According to Meltzer, the WWE was likely “ready to start” with Carlito and had a “start date”.
Huge Hopes For Main Event Jey Uso
Dave also notes that he “was there” (at television tapings). Meltzer says WWE probably couldn’t figure out what to do with him and still hasn’t figured out what to do.
Carlito’s first run with the WWE was between 2003 and 2010. He was released when he refused rehab after failing their wellness policy test.
During that time, he had both a U.S. title run and was IC Champion. In addition, he held the WWE Tag Titles, twice with Primo.
The last time he was in action was during the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Only time will tell if and when he makes a major return to the company.
