Some fans have recently raised an eyebrow at Kenny Omega when it seemed like he threw some shade at CM Punk’s AEW firing. More on this story, below.

Kenny Omega’s Dig At CM Punk’s AEW Firing

During a recent Being The Elite episode, there were some interesting backstage moments. One specific scene had people buzzing.

The AEW star showed some dissatisfaction after a dealing around the Hung Bucks trademark sale between John Silver and Matt Jackson. Trying to lift his spirits, he took a drink out of an unknown beverage that seemed to be a Pepsi, stating that it tastes like “lighter fluid”.

Many fans wondered if the reference was to CM Punk, who happens to have a logo of the well-known beverage on his left shoulder. It’s no secret that there is some tension between the superstar and Punk, after all the drama that occurred between them after last year’s All Out pay-per-view.

After all, the backstage brawl that occurred between Punk, Ace Steel, Omega, as well as The Young Bucks made massive wrestling headlines. All the men involved ended up being suspended after the altercation.

The Elite would return to AEW in April of this year. Meanwhile, CM Punk would make an All Elite Wrestling comeback during the debut episode of Collision, the company’s third show and brand, this past June.

Unfortunately, the drama for Punk (and AEW) would not end there. He was recently involved in yet another backstage incident, this time involving Jack Perry, during the promotion’s massive All In event that took place at Wembley Stadium in London.

According to reports, Perry and Punk got into a fight before the pay-per-view’s opening match that pitted Samoa Joe against CM Punk. While there are conflicting reports about what happened, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer recently stated that Punk sucker punched Jack and tried to choke him.

The entire incident occurred in front of AEW’s head honcho, Tony Khan. CM Punk was subsequently fired, and Jack Perry has been indefinitely suspended.
