There has been a ton of buzz since Edge seemingly wrestled his last match with the WWE during the August 18th edition of SmackDown. Amid reports stating that the wrestling legend was struggling with contract negotiations, the Hall of Famer (HOFer) recently took the time to address this via a video on social media.
Rumors Swirl About Edge & WWE Contract Negotiations
According to PW Torch’s Wade Keller, WWE could not come to terms with the superstar on a contract. Internally, the report states it is “believed” that the Rated-R Superstar will sign with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
As per the report, the wrestling icon presented the company with his terms for a new deal. However, the promotion rejected his offer.
This has thus “sparked” the idea that Edge will head to AEW. Last week’s Blue brand show celebrated the star’s 25 years with the company, closing the show with an incredible match that saw the Rated-R Superstar face off against real-life friend Sheamus.
He won the bout. In addition, reports reveal the SD match was also the final one in his current contract with the company, which expires in September.
Superstar Posts Major Video On Social Media With An Explanation
Posting on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), he takes the time to address the rumors. He notes there are no hard feelings between him and the wrestling promotion.
The HOFer also states that he didn’t present a “crazy contract”, and they haven’t denied him anything. He simply notes there’s a deal extension sitting in his email box.
He adds he doesn’t know “what to do”, as the first time he retired he was “forced” to. Now, he finally has a choice, and it has been a hard decision.
He goes on to note that his match with Sheamus last week was a career highlight. He needs time to process what his next move should be.
The full video is just above. It looks like the Rate-R Superstar is struggling with what to do next, but whatever he decides, his fans will back him up every step of the way.
