In what could be a bit of a work or a bit of a shoot, Darby Allin drags AEW title through the mud.

Or does he?

Specifically, Allin recently made remarks about an AEW championship which he’s held on two occasions.

Specifically, the AEW TNT Championship.

This is also a title which, funny enough, Allin has another shot at during September 3rd’s All Out.

So, some of this might be how he feels honestly, and some of this could just be part of the program.

But, regardless…

As reported by Wrestling Inc, the challenger made an appearance to discuss his next shot at the TNT Championship, and the state of the title.

He was blunt, not holding any punches back.

In his view, the title meant something when it was first introduced, and he ran down the who’s who of former TNT Champions, including current WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes.

But, as fans also often say, when a title changes hands too often, things can get cheapened.

In the case of the TNT Championship, the belt has changed owners six times in 2023 alone.

Changing hands so many times has, in his opinion, hurt the value and significance of the title.

What also has not helped is having one AEW star-Christian Cage-parade around as if he were champion, while his protege Luchasaurus is the actual recognized title holder.

This is where things blur, and it could be as much Allin’s real feelings as it is setting up for a future title reign.

As in, Darby Allin wants to regain the title and hold on to it in order to restore it to it’s former glory.

Still, whether his true feelings or all part of the story, his comments are not wrong. While wrestling fans do love themselves a sweet title change…having titles change hands too often can be, well, too much.

Yet, there are certain titles that by their very nature are defended more often. More frequent defenses will generally lead to more frequent changes.

Is Allin’s chatter setting him up for a 3rd TNT title run soon?
