It’s another RAW in a Nutshell, and like the headline says, we have 2 big title matches in Hotlanta.
Because, you know, this time of year, the ATL is Hotlanta.
And, those 2 big title matches? We knew coming in we had the women’s tag title match.
Didn’t take long into Monday to get us a second, with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn battling Dom and Damien Priest.
If somehow tag title matches are not your thing…there’s a Viking Rules match too. Could be fun…
Cody Rhodes, in his backyard, will surely be there. He’s waiting for Brock Lesnar to accept his SummerSlam challenge.
All that and plenty more, so let’s get into it…
2 Big Title Matches In Hotlanta : RAW In A Nutshell
Let’s crack open this Nutshell and see how things go!
Best Match of the night:
Pick a tag title match…any tag title match.
Both were good.
Honorable mention: Viking Rules match.
Worst match of the night:
I mean, I love seeing Shayna looking dominant…but the match with Nikki was like 20 seconds.
It meant we heard Ronda talk more than Shayna wrestle.
One is much more fun than the other…
Crowd Chants of the Night:
Tiny balls. A lot of those chants.
Crowd made that segment.
Star of the Night
Nothing against the main event folks, or Cody and Brock…
However…
I really feel like Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville deserve this nod. Not that they will read this…but…
Green was snakebit early on, and has returned and thrived.
Deville has been like, the consummate professional, but has done so much without holding gold.
Between all that she’s done in and out of the ring for WWE, plus what she endured in her personal life?
You have to be happy for the new champs.
Spot of the Night:
Not one single spot, but two segments.
Well, a segment and a match.
That segment between Brock and Cody had lots of painful stuff but good stuff.
And the Viking Rules match was a lot of fun.
Jobber of the Night:
Nikki Cross. No chance against Shayna Baszler.
Upset of the Night:
Turn, or just upset?
Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:
Perhaps another big match getting teased?
After Waller pokes The Rock, we’ve got The Miz poking Pat McAfee.
Botch of the night:
Nothing grabbed my attention.
Commentary of the night:
Huge improvement at this point in the show.
Like, Graves is a former wrestler (who, sadly, many fans never watched in the ring).
Why can’t we have someone else? Can’t be worse than KP…
LOL Moment of the night:
Rousey thinks she’s a future WWE Hall of Famer?
I don’t see it. Granted, it’s an honor with no voting or anything, so if WWE thinks she’s a good option, she will go in.
But…she’s been a really not great performer. She’s not worthy.
Sonya Deville, with a single title win that just happened on this very RAW? I’d put her in the WWE HOF before Rousey.
Noteworthy Moment:
Cody versus Brock? Official for SummerSlam.
Rousey and Baszler? Same.
It was asked for earlier in the show, with a nice segment.
Before RAW was over, it was official too.
Overall lowlights:
Baszler is, or should be, the babyface here…but I don’t know that WWE is doing enough to help her there.
The Atlanta crowd I think was getting behind the Queen of Spades, but not overwhelmingly so.
Also…I do like the women’s tag title change…BUT…I feel like I don’t love how it came to be.
Like, poor Liv, and WWE needs to give the new champs a good clean win in the near future.
Even though, you have to think what happened is leading to a big SummerSlam clash…
Overall highlights:
I did like Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville winning. Considering all that they’ve done and dealt with…good for them.
Cody and Brock was gold. Like, for all the part-time flak Lesnar might get, he’s a star maker more than he gets credit for.
Rhodes will win in Detroit and get even more over.
The Viking Rules match was infinitely better than I expected it to be.
Crazy busy main event…liked Seth and Finn getting theirs before the bell, with Liv and Rhea being the end of match distraction.
I half expected Wes Lee to be there, considering the big NXT North American title match on Tuesday…
After the final bell:
Don’t look now, but next week’s RAW in Tampa looks kind of loaded. Not even the go-home show yet.
Logan Paul facing Ricochet (to set up their SummerSlam)? Yes.
Becky against Zoey Stark, ahead of Lynch/Stratus? Done.
Gunther and Drew McIntyre face to face…same.
Buckle up…things are getting good!
