According to a report, there’s a heel AEW star that could be making a babyface turn soon. More on this story, below.
AEW Plans To Turn Heel Into Massive Babyface
Konosuke Takeshita just turned heel in late May at the Double or Nothing event. Still, a report reveals that the company already has long-term plans to turn him into a huge babyface.
As per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the long-term idea is to turn Konosuke into “one of the biggest babyfaces” of the company, later down the line. It’ll be interesting to see this transition.
Takeshita first debuted on Rampage in May 2022. He faced off against Jay Lethal and lost.
With that being said, he officially became “All Elite” in November of that year and was working as a face the entire time. That is until he turned heel after the “Anarchy in the Arena” match at Double or Nothing.
Konosuke is currently aligned with Don Callis. Both stars have received major heat from crowds in the past couple of weeks on Dynamite.
Both are involved in a program against IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega. Omega is set to defend his title against Will Ospreay on Sunday, June 25th at Forbidden Door II.
Therefore, it’s hard to say when Kenny and Takeshita will face off. This hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi coming to the aid of their “friend” Omega at some point.
Only time will tell if this happens at the Forbidden Door event, or sooner. After all, AEW Collision will debut before the big event, on Saturday, June 17th.
CM Punk is returning, which is big, but a few other surprises wouldn’t hurt, either. The company may need an angle to help hype the first show, and bringing in Okada and Ibushi would be a major upset.
