Maybe this isn’t quite the best way to describe it….but…a big match returning on NXT is what we got.

Not only that, but things went from interesting to really interesting in a hurry.

First, that big match. Fans of WWE will remember this less as a match and more of a…well…fight club?

RAW Underground was a short lived segment on…well…RAW. Driven by Shane McMahon, aimed at presenting an edgy pit fighter type of vibe…it wasn’t the worst idea in the world.

But…short lived. It did give us time with Omos before he was Omos, though.

And now, Damon Kemp has asked to take on Eddy Thorpe in…a RAW Underground match.

So, in that sense, yes…

But, bringing RAW Underground was not the biggest news about this, I don’t think.

That all was topped a bit later on during this week’s two hours of NXT programming. I am just going to leave this clip here:

This is big, for a few reasons.

Right off the bat, as hinted at by Gable…he knows Damon really well.

He knows him really well, because Damon Kemp is his brother.

For another? I feel like we only just recently heard something about it could still be a while before we see Gable Steveson.

And now here he is.

To be fair, relative to the Olympic Champion, the news on him has run just like that.

We get word that things are not going well, and instantly there’s a counter-point saying things are fine.

While I swear we just heard he was far off…I also feel like not long before that, it seemed like his long-awaited debut was imminent.

And, whether I said it in a Nutshell or in my head, I’ve long wondered if having Gable do some time in NXT alongside his established brother wouldn’t do him some good.

The young Superstar certainly has the tools to be great in a WWE ring…but that does not always translate.

It will be interesting to see if this match is used as a launching point to bring Gable into NXT (and if so…will he turn on Eddy Thorpe?).
