A pair of new reports claims that the months of rumors are now a reality and WWE will soon have a pair of former AEW tag team champions on the roster.
With the growth of AEW into a legitimate No. 2 company in the world of professional wrestling, free agency has picked up in a major way over the last few years. For a time, AEW was making big waves by bringing in WWE greats like Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk.

However, with WWE in a major upward swing since 2023, there have been more talents jumping ship from All Elite Wrestling to the top company in the world. However, outside of former TBS Champion Jade Cargill, many of those talents have been mid to low-card wrestlers with a lot of potential. Such as Ethan Page and Lexis King.
However, that is expected to change in a major way soon.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo have reportedly signed WWE contracts
On Thursday, Wrestle Ops was one of the first to break the news that after months of rumors, the Lucha Bros. — Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo — had signed contracts to join WWE. It was reported during the summer that both men’s contracts were set to expire in the coming months. And they had avoided signing extensions in AEW due to plans to jump to the competition.
PW Nexus also confirmed they heard similar news from their own sources that the former AEW tag and trios champions would be bringing their talents to WWE. The reports also claim that the Lucha Bros. will not be going to NXT as speculated. And are headed straight to the main roster where they will be a huge addition to an improving tag team division.
Outside of the Young Bucks, Fenix and Miedo are, arguably, the greatest tag team in the business that hasn’t competed in WWE. This year alone, WWE has signed the legendary NJPW tag team the Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa), and TNA Wrestling greats the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alexy Shelley).
