With various wrestling icons getting grand send-offs, it looks like WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin may be looking to get his chance at a spectacular in-ring finale.
Huge final matches have been a big thing in professional wrestling in recent years. WCW icon Ric Flair (hopefully) took part in his retirement three years ago at 73 years old. Fellow WCW great Sting had his final match in AEW last year at 63. Hall of Famer Goldberg is set to get a WWE send-off next month at age 58. And John Cena is in the middle of a year-long retirement send-off.
Most figured Steve Austin had his unofficial retirement match at WrestleMania 39 in 2023. That may not be the case, however. Fightful Select is reporting that while “The Texas Rattlesnake” was in Las Vegas for WrestleMania 41, he allegedly told several people he spoke with that he believes he might have one last match in him.

At 60 years old, and with multiple surgeries on his neck and knees, the WWE icon is pushing his body’s limits very far with the idea of one more match. However, for those who saw his bout at ‘Mania three years ago, after he got going, he was pretty solid.
Furthermore, the multi-time WWE champion retired at 38 and was able to allow his body to heal up for nearly two decades. While he would surely still be in his 60s for a match, his age, more so than his years of wrestling, would be the biggest hindrance to match quality.
However, if paired with the right opponent, as he was three years ago with Kevin Owens, it would be hard to doubt the wrestling great.
