Rumors continue to grow that former AEW Women’s Champ Mariah May is just biding her time until a jump to WWE later this year.
Outside of WWE, AEW has the best roster in the entire professional wrestling industry. They have talent that were elite stars around the world before joining the company. Men and women like Jon Moxley, Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, and Mercedes Mone. However, others became household names from their work in All Elite Wrestling.
AEW stars like MJF, Orange Cassidy, Swerve Strickland, and Mariah May hit peak points in their career during their time in the promotion. The three men seem like AEW lifers. However, earlier this month, rumors swirled that May’s contract is ending soon, and she could hit wrestling free agency.
Well, it seems like free agency is a guarantee, and she only has one place in mind to continue her career with.
Mariah May has been working toward the opportunity to sign with WWE
On a new edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, long-time reporters Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez dropped some huge news about what they are hearing regarding May’s wrestling future.
Dave Meltzer: “She put a post up, basically saying that I forgot the exact words, but it was saying like there are no mistakes on your journey because you want to get to where you want to be or something. It’s all part of the trip of getting to where you want to be. She had a photo of Orlando, Florida, and I know from people in WWE that they know she wants to go there. I think people saw that cryptic thing. I don’t know when her contract is up. Everyone seems to think it’s the summer that it’s up.”
Bryan Alvarez: “I was given the impression it was a two-year deal that she signed originally. So I guess you can do the math.”
Meltzer: “That would be the summer.”
Alvarez: “But I have heard the same thing that at least in AEW, there’s a belief that she’s heading to WWE.” [h/t WrestlingNews.co]
The WWE women’s division on all three brands is as strong as ever. But May would still be a huge addition to the roster as she just enters her athletic prime.
