A bizarre rumor has emerged of what the alliance between John Cena and The Rock could be called. And it seems too ridiculous to be true.
At Elimination Chamber 2025, the wrestling world witnessed one of the most shocking moments in WWE history. After two decades as one of the greatest good guys the business has ever seen, 16-time world champion John Cena turned to the dark side.
After Cody Rhodes turned down The Rock’s offer to be his chosen champion for the price of his soul, Cena revealed he had instead accepted the offer. To prove his loyalty to his new ally, the WWE legend brutally attacked the reigning WWE Undisputed Champion, Rhodes. Leaving him bloodied and beaten.
Since the stunning moment, there has been a great deal of talk about a possible name this new alliance could have. This week, a rumored possibility emerged and, frankly, it’s terrible.

Potential name for The Rock and John Cena partnership comes to light
In a new edition of Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass, Wrestle Votes claimed a brand being floated for the new alliance of WWE icons is “The Rock and Soul Connection.” The name harkens back to the tag team The Rock had with long-time pal Mick Foley. Which was “The Rock and Sock Connection.” Since Foley used a sock puppet during his finishing move (the mandible claw).
It also has some similarities to the “Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection” of the 1980s. And the legendary tag team “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.” Nevertheless, it is a name that will probably disappoint most wrestling fans for its lack of originality.
However, if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wants to continue the theme of taking souls, the TKO board member will probably get what he wants.
