The former head writer of WWE Raw looked to kill rumors that the Rock might have had an influence on John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025.
The Rock has proven to be a game-changer for the global juggernaut of wrestling, WWE. His involvement on the road to WrestleMania last year was a huge hit. And “The Final Boss” once again has slotted himself into the mix as the road to WrestleMania 41 picks up speed.
In recent weeks, there had been reports that The Rock may have had an influence on what went down at the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE. But the Hollywood superstar’s long-time writing pal and former WWE Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz tried to counter those rumors this week.
Did The Rock want a different finish to the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE?

The 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber event saw a shocking moment. John Cena, on the orders of The Rock, took down Cody Rhodes and turned heel for the first time in two decades. However, there had been reports that The Rock’s unexpected return late last month forced a lot of changes to plans ahead of WrestleMania 41.
Moreover, another report stated that Cena’s heel turn was supposed to take place at the end of WrestleMania 41. Gewirtz took notice and tweeted a simple response on X, dismissing those rumors and hinting at them to be false.
“0-2,” he wrote in a response to a post claiming the turn was supposed to be in April and the decision to do it was made on the day of Elimination Chamber.
Regardless of what was originally planned, the road to WrestleMania 41 has been completely altered. John Cena emerged victorious in the 2025 Men’s Elimination Chamber match. His win guaranteed him a title match against the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania in what will be one of the most highly anticipated matches in company history.
