Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix To Join WWE This Summer? New Rumor Suggests AEW Stars Are Leaving Soon

A new rumor suggests that not only is Penta El Zero Miedo leaving AEW and could be WWE-bound, but his brother Rey Fenix is likely to join him.

In the short history of AEW, there has been no better tag team than the Lucha Brothers — Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix. They have been a part of the company’s best matches and are one of their longest-reigning tag team champions.

They have been stars for AEW from their early days and would seem like a pair of performers who would be company lifers. However, in July a new rumor claimed Penta’s AEW contract was going to expire this summer and he would seriously consider offers from WWE.

Then a new report recently claimed that his brother, Rey Fenix, was set to become a free agent very soon as well. Following that news, Wrestle Purists reporter Ibou added a new and major update to the situation on the future of the Lucha Bros.

“According to multiple AEW sources, the Lucha Bros are expected to leave AEW when their contracts expire this year,” Ibou wrote in a post on X. Some sources speculated they were heading to WWE. Some claimed it was a formality. They were originally planned for an AEW World Trios Title match at Wembley, but plans have now changed.”

The fact that they were removed from their scheduled match at All-In in London says a lot about the confidence level of AEW officials when it comes to re-signing the former trio champions. They also took a similar recently with homegrown star Daniel Garcia. There are also rumors he may test his value in free agency in the next few months.
