Rumored NXT Event Going Head-To-Head With AEW Dynamite In November To Have Heavy ECW Influence

A new WWE rumor making the rounds suggests that NXT will be taking their product to the land of extreme for an event in November.

After undergoing a failed overhaul dubbed NXT 2.0, WWE’s developmental brand has had a serious resurgence over the last couple of years under the guidance of Shawn Michaels. The brand landed a new TV deal on CW Network that started this year. And they are traveling outside the performance center in Florida more often.

That will also be the case for the company in early November. Election day in the United States will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Understanding the nation will be focused on the presidential election that day, NXT will instead move to Wednesday night. Which means they will go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

With NXT performing better and AEW’s ratings down in 2024, it should be a very competitive battle on Nov. 5. However, it seems the gold-and-black brand will use an interesting theme for that episode that could bring in many old-school fans.

NXT could do the Nov. 6 event from inside the legendary ECW Arena

In a new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that NXT has booked an upcoming event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. The venue is the same building once dubbed the ECW Arena.

While a specific date for the NXT show in Philly has not been confirmed, Meltzer suggested it could end up being on Nov. 6 when they go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

“While not confirmed, the belief is that it will be on 11/6. Which would be the NXT TV tapings on a Wednesday, the day after the election,” Meltzer wrote. “The fact there will be a show has been confirmed by many, just not the date. NXT will be on the unfamiliar night and I presume they’ll loaded up going head-to-head with AEW.

“It makes sense the idea of NXT from the ECW Arena for the first time will get enough buzz to help grow the audience in the attempt to beat AEW.”
