A new WWE rumor suggests the company’s creative team is beginning to lay out plans for Bill Goldberg’s planned retirement match this year.
“According to multiple sources, Goldberg’s name has been floated internally within WWE over the past week. The first time since his Bad Blood appearance and his interactions with Gunther,” Wrestle Votes reported Thursday. “Feels like the inevitable return is nearing.”
WWE revealed late last year that the plan was for Goldberg to have one final send-off match at some point this year. However, recent reports have pointed to it being in the next few months. The former WWE and WCW world champion has already begun his training for his return match and underwent stem cell treatment to get as healthy as possible.
With Summerslam 2025 set to be a two-night event in August. Goldberg’s retirement match being a main event on one of those nights makes a lot of sense and seems highly likely.
