Braun Strowman was the biggest name that was part of the huge WWE roster cuts last week. However, a new rumor claims the former WWE champion may not be away from the company that long.
Before last week’s episode of SmackDown, the surprising news broke that over a dozen performers from the main roster and NXT were either being released or not having their contracts renewed. The cuts included several former champions, but the biggest name was “The Monster” Braun Strowman.
The assumption is after being released by the company for a second time in the last few years, Strowman is done with WWE — or at least for several years. However, on Wednesday, veteran wrestling reporter Bill Apter dropped an interesting rumor during a new Wrestle Votes Q&A podcast.
“I think that this time around, they never envisioned him as a full-time, long storyline player. I don’t want to use the term filler. But just a good hand to have around to get the excitement going, and maybe put some guys over, which he did. But nothing that they were planning on for a long period, and I don’t know if he actually wanted to be part of this for long periods of time.

I heard that it was not an angry break, and if they call him six months or a year down the road, ‘We need you for three or four months,’ he’d be willing to do it again.”
Braun Strowman is only 41 years old and right in the middle of his “wrestler prime.” However, his knees resemble a much older man. Having more of a part-time schedule might benefit him and make better use of his unique look at talent.
The one-time Universal champion is sure to get interest from various wrestling companies around the industry once his 90-day no-compete clause expires this summer.
