World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has been one of WWE’s most dominant titlists. His latest win was in a Triple Threat match against Finn Bálor and Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and he’s beaten other top-tier competitors over the past few months.
But his reign may be somewhat shorter than fans had hoped. And Gunther’s reign could come to an end very soon now, according to recent reports.

Xero News reports that Gunther is set to hand over his World Heavyweight Championship in the coming weeks. Thus, The Ring General won’t be in a championship match at WrestleMania 41.
“Gunther drops very soon,” the outlet’s X account posted Wednesday.
What’s Next for Gunther?
Even if Gunther loses his title, his legacy will remain intact. His Intercontinental Championship record-breaking reign and his King of the Ring win in 2024 have put his name in the history books. Losing the World Heavyweight Championship won’t close the door for new rivalries and matches en route to WrestleMania.
Surprises are what WrestleMania season is about, and this year is no exception. Xero News also claimed that the goal is for a match between Gunther and Goldberg at the showcase of the immortals in the legendary wrestler’s retirement match.
With WWE’s creative direction forthcoming, fans can expect twists and turns and moments that will define the way to Wrestlemania 41. And one thing is sure the excitement has only just begun.
