GUNTHER has nothing short of an amazing run between NXT UK, NXT, and now the WWE main roster. Keep in mind, before WWE hooked him, he was said to be un-getable. Word was the dominant grappler who had no interest in staying in the United States full time.

Per Fightful and seconded by PWInsider, GUNTHER is reported to have either signed a new deal or basically have one all worked out. Whatever the terms are, one thing is for certain. GUNTHER has earned every bit of it.

Think about it. Just a few years ago, many never thought WWE could sign the indie star then known as WALTER. People said he’d never want to leave Europe. But then he landed in NXT UK and dominated. And when the time was right, WALTER came to Florida and became GUNTHER. Since then, it’s just been historic.

OK, maybe not entirely. But he now holds the longest Intercontinental Championship reign ever. That feat was certainly recognized, but also overshadowed a bit because we were in the midst of Roman Reigns‘ generational reign as well.

Now, he holds the biggest belt on RAW and has since SummerSlam. Will he set records once again? That remains to be seen. What does not remain to be seen? Those reports indicating a deserved deal is imminent or basically done had more to say. Specifically, WWE officials call GUNTHER among the most professional Superstars they’ve ever worked with.

I don’t know if he will ever get a baby face run. Heck, he may not even ever want one stateside. He got tons of local love at the Bash over the summer, and that was awesome. But even if he serves as a heel and one of the best ones, too-fans still respect and appreciate his greatness.

And now, we get at least several more years of it, too.
